The American Legion Department of Maryland's headquarters is located in the War Memorial Building in Baltimore, Maryland, with the Department Service Office located in the Falon Federal Building in Baltimore, Maryland.

District commanders are responsible for ensuring that communication flows through the public, the posts in their district, the team of individuals they’ve assembled, and ultimately to the department and National Headquarters.

Post leadership receives guidance and encouragement from district commanders, who supervise posts to ensure proper execution of Legion programs or initiatives.
