While not officially sponsored by the park, the administrators of this free-admission amusement park have been very supportive of the event through the years, shares Michael Escobar, 65, the planning mastermind behind this event.

“Usually we have speakers throughout the day, including state representatives or local politicians, and sometimes we have performers sing, and we also have door prizes that we give away, such as a computer or a television,” Escobar says.

How Might Cedar Point Address LGBTQ+ Inclusivity in the Future?

While Cedar Point currently doesn’t have announced Pride events, this could change in the future.

Sandusky, OH – Cedar Point, a theme park well-known to LGBT Michiganders who flock to their unofficial Gay Day each June, has decided to cancel a wedding day contest rather than open it up to same-sex couples.
The contest was for 13 couples to be married in a horror-show-themed ceremony on Friday the 13th of September, the kickoff for HalloWeekends.
