August is stacked with queer joy in CNY: Happy Hour (8/8), Co-Working (8/13), LGBTQ Short Film Fundraiser (8/14), Ice Cream Social (8/17), Guerrilla Gay Bar (8/21—secret spot drops at noon), Pride Day at the NYS Fair (8/22), and Big Queer Beach Day at Green Lakes (8/24).

Farr considers himself more of a homebody than Kramer, but he sometimes accompanies Kramer to Wolf’s Den. Kramer says, “I’ve always been more like, ‘I have to see what’s going on, I have to see people.’ And he gives me that latitude to do it.”
Kramer comes to Wolf’s Den from about five miles away in East Syracuse to spend time with friends such as Ray Carnevale, who he met at Wolf’s Den about two years ago.
Farr’s looks, dark curly brown hair, and beard attracted Kramer. “It’s a chance to catch up on all the gossip,” he says. These festivals provide an opportunity for filmmakers to share their stories and for the community to engage in thought-provoking discussions about lgbtq+Q+ experiences.

“Over the years, it’s gotten much better,” he says. It aims to promote equality, diversity, and inclusivity within the city.
- lgbtq+Q+ Film Festivals: Syracuse hosts several lgbtq+Q+ film festivals that showcase a diverse range of films with lgbtq+Q+ themes. Talented local drag performers and guest artists entertain audiences with their impressive performances, colorful costumes, and captivating stage presence.
It serves as a safe space for socializing, networking, and accessing resources. But Syracuse currently lacks a lesbian bar, and Kramer feels that the two groups support each other more these days. They performed in Syracuse and across upstate New York — from Albany to Buffalo. He doesn’t miss doing hair, but he does miss his customers, some of whom he served for the entirety of his career.
