Because surrogates are medically screened and have already had a healthy live birth of their own, IVF with gestational surrogacy is one of the most effective fertility treatments available.
Your surrogate will visit your IVF clinic during the first trimester (typically until about 10 weeks), where she’ll undergo routine monitoring and blood testing.
The difficult part about being a foster parent is that you will not know how long a child will be with you – it could be one week or several years! You will also have a process and pricing consultation with a member of our team who has personally been through the egg donation surrogacy process.
Because you’ll need both a surrogate and an egg donor your consultation will discuss the gestational surrogacy process in detail, introduce you to our in-house egg donor and surrogacy agency Hatch (if you don’t already have an agency in mind), and walk you through various considerations for selecting your egg donor and surrogate.
Legalities
Just like surrogacy, the legal nature of adoption is complex and the laws can vary from state to state and country to country. In addition, your lawyer will ensure that the transfer of parental rights goes smoothly. In this scenario, it is common for the parties to meet each other in person at some point before or after birth.
Even with expert guidance, it may take up to three months to select and screen an egg donor.After egg donor selection, an IVF cycle is the next step.

How do we choose an egg donor as a gay couple?You’ll have access to our regulated donor programme, with a wide range of profiles to choose from.
This is made possible by impregnating the surrogate mother’s eggs through either intrauterine insemination (IUI) or IVF.
Compared to gestational surrogates, traditional surrogates tend to be less expensive. Family history, hobbies, and other personality and character traits you can discern might be important to the story of your child.

Your clinic may have their own database of pre-screened donors, or you might find independent donor agencies and databases to sift through.
But remember that there’s more than just physical characteristics to consider.
Adoption
Another option for hopeful couples is adoption. And if you run out of embryos you will want to be able to create new ones without incurring more medical costs.
Some people recommend having the surrogate play recordings of the intended parents' voices to help the baby bond, visiting the 16-week ultrasound, and touring the hospital your surrogate will give birth at.
6. This is because the surrogate mother is not biologically linked to the baby, meaning they will not have a strong legal claim to the child should they change their mind during pregnancy.

Anonymous donor
An “anonymous donor” is just that – anonymous. They can put you in contact with an experienced attorney, and they will know exactly what you need to prepare ahead of time to ensure the legal process goes smoothly. This means that you will not know them personally, and you will not receive any identifying information about them.
Instead, a fertilized egg from another biological woman is implanted into the surrogate mother via in vitro fertilization (IVF).
